Furoshiki wraps are a square piece of cloth, designed to be a re-usable gift wrapping. Originating in Japan, they were originally used simply as a way of wrapping something - perhaps a packed lunch!
These wraps are made from beautiful fabrics that Shona has found on her travels over the years. Finally, she decided to cut up some of these wonderful pieces to make individual wraps for gift wrapping that can be used and re-used again and again.
This set of 4 wraps are all slightly different and are described below. All made in England by Shona & her team.
Wrap 1: Pink embroidered stripe
- Cotton fabric with a multi colour embroidered stripe in gold, blue, green, black & peach
- The coloured embroidery threads have almost a metallic look
- This wrap can be used with either side as the outer - depending on whether you prefer the bolder or more subtle stripe
- Approx. size 54x54cm
Wrap 2: Blue Ikat weave cotton
- A medium weight cotton with a multi colour ikat weave
- This wrap is easily large enough for wrapping a bottle or other largish gift
- This wrap is the same on both sides
- Approx. size 78x78cm - this can also be worn as a scarf!
Wrap 3: Rust & Gold sari
- A very fine cotton fabric, this wrap is cut from a sari, so every one is very slightly different
- Each piece has the blue and gold sari border edging on one side and there are gold/blue flecks in places that look like dots in the check pattern
- This wrap has a definite outer side, so is best used with that side out
- Approx. size 56x56cm
Wrap 4: Green & Gold silk check
- 100% Japanese silk in a beautiful green and gold check, this wrap folds beautifully around all kinds of shapes and knots very easily to make a very rich looking gift wrap
- The pattern on this wrap is the same on both sides
- Approx. size 52x52cm
